On the 18th July 2021, we were invited down to Apocalypse Airsoft in Kent! It was a 3 hour journey there for us but we were looking forward to playing alongside some friends.
We were greeted at the car park and found there was a large hill which we were given the option to either drive or walk up. We decided to drive.
Once booking in, we set up our gear and went to chrono our guns. Around 10am, we were given a quick safety briefing which we found out later in the day missed some key information such as whether or not ricochets count. We were given the game briefing in the safe zone and then had to make our way onto the field.
The site was quite large and was very open. We weren't given any boundaries as to where we could go. The games also lasted quite some time compared to the normal skirmishes I'm used to so having lots of ammo on you was a must. Also, hit taking wasn't great which became quite frustrating.
The marshals were extremely helpful in assisting dead players out of areas so they don't get repeatedly shot at. One downside I found was there was no minimum engagement rule for full auto which unfortunately resulted in a lot of trigger happy players lighting enemies up unnecessarily.
With the site being so large, the marshals had put in place a rule for players to get medic twice before having to head back to respawn which helped.
The food at lunch was available from a burger van which consisted a good variety.
There were quite a few pros and cons for this site but due to the travelling and the extra cost for the day, I sadly wont be heading back to this site.
